Hi, I’m Natasha.

Ooh, look at me welcoming you to my creative blog, where I will introduce you to all the fun, creative and crazy things I get up to.

I am a wife and a mother to my 3 children and 2 dogs, so you can imagine how chaotic it can get in our house.

“Ooh, look at me!” is an ironic name because I actually don’t like drawing attention to myself or my family, yet I really like inspiring others to be creative because I know how fulfilling it can be. The name also comes from something silly we used to say years ago and it kind of just stuck with me.

Check out our About Us page for more information about us and what we do.

I hope this brings you creative joy

Let’s get yarning and creative!

Crochet Beach Backpack

My daughter, Kayleigh, loves bags. She has quite a collection but not any crochet ones. I decided to design and crochet one for her. I thought of a drawstring backpack style because this is the type of bag she doesn’t have either. I chose colours that were her taste as well. The bag ended up working up really quick and didn’t require much yarn.

This backpack is perfect for a day at the beach for kids, teenagers, adults, boys and girls alike. The yarn is so soft and stretchy that it can hold a towel, swim wear, sun cream and a few other beach essentials. The straps are attached through crocheted rings, making it easy to carry. It doesn’t need a fabric lining but you could put one in and maybe even add a pocket. This pattern is very adjustable by doing more increase base rounds and more rows on the body of the backpack to make it bigger OR do less rounds and rows to make it smaller. Then, adjust strap and ring sizes accordingly.

The pattern is available on www.loveknitting.com and www.lovecrochet.com.

The finished sizes were approximately:

Base diameter: 30.5cm (12”)

Backpack height: 43cm (17”)

Straps length: 94cm (37”)

Backpack Tie: 139.7cm (55”)

I worked the bag in UK Treble Crochet/tr (US Double Crochet/dc) stitch. Knowledge of the magic (adjustable) ring technique and working in rounds is required for this pattern.
