Hi, I’m Natasha.

Ooh, look at me welcoming you to my creative blog, where I will introduce you to all the fun, creative and crazy things I get up to.

I am a wife and a mother to my 3 children and 2 dogs, so you can imagine how chaotic it can get in our house.

“Ooh, look at me!” is an ironic name because I actually don’t like drawing attention to myself or my family, yet I really like inspiring others to be creative because I know how fulfilling it can be. The name also comes from something silly we used to say years ago and it kind of just stuck with me.

Check out our About Us page for more information about us and what we do.

I hope this brings you creative joy

Let’s get yarning and creative!

Crochet Bear Play Rug - floor comfort for babies

I came across Bernat Blanket Big Ball yarn and thought it would make a great project. At the time, I was originally planning to work on some cuddly teddy bears but then thought why not make a teddy bear rug. I remember when my children were babies and they loved to lay on their play mats, kicking their legs and rolling around. This would have been perfect to have back then. It is big enough and thick enough to lay out on any floor. It is supersoft, yet thick and chunky, and has some texture to it that babies will love. I’m not really sure what I am going to do with the finished project because I do not have any babies now, and am not really planning on it either. So I will need to think about what to do with it.

The pattern is available on www.loveknitting.com and www.lovecrochet.com.

The finished size was approx. 35½″ (90cm) in diameter.

I worked the rug in UK Treble Crochet/tr [US Double Crochet/dc] stitch and started with a magic (adjustable) ring.

Yarn - Main

Bernat Blanket Big Ball (shade - Taupe 10029).

2 x 300g (10.6oz/255yds/234m) balls.

Weight category: UK Chunky [US 5/Bulky/Chunky].

Tension/gauge: 8 stitches x 13 rows = 4″ (10cm) on size 8mm/UK 0 [US L/11] hook.

The crochet hook I used was an 8mm/UK 0 [US L/11].

I would give the Bernat Blanket Big Ball yarn a 2 out of 5 for the following reasons:-

- It was tough to work up, making it not take longer to complete a project;

- There is a small choice of colours available;

- The feel of it was supersoft;

- The cost of yarn is slightly expensive - I paid about £8.20 per 300g ball but they are now  anywhere between £9.20 and £10.25. This would make it about £3.42 per 100g;

- Would I use this yarn again? UNDECIDED.

Yarn - Nose, Eyes & Ears

Patons Baby Smiles Fairytale Cloud (shade - Camel 1010).

2 x 25g (10.6oz/89yds/82m) balls.

Weight category: UK DK [US 3/Light Worsted/DK].

Tension/gauge: 20 stitches x 29 rows = 4″ (10cm) on size 4mm/UK 8 [US G/6] hook.

The crochet hook I used was an 4.5mm/UK 7 [US 7].

I would give the Patons Baby Smiles Fairytale Cloud yarn a 3 out of 5 for the following reasons:-

- It was easy to work up, but difficult to see stitches because of its fluffiness;

- There is a limited choice of colours available;

- The feel of it was supersoft;

- The cost of yarn is reasonable - I paid about £1.80 per ball;

- Would I use this yarn again? YES, DEFINITELY.

I hope this brings you creative joy and inspires you to start your own yarn-tastic journey.
